Rembrandt Carré Pastels are designed as a firmer, sketch-oriented alternative to traditional soft pastels. They continue a centuries-old artistic tradition of using natural pigments such as chalk, china clay, and coloured earths, offering a controlled drawing experience with strong tonal clarity.

Although they share the same high-quality raw materials as Rembrandt Soft Pastels, the formulation uses a different pigment-to-binder ratio, resulting in a harder, more compact pastel stick. This makes them less powdery and better suited for sketching, linear work, and precise tonal studies.

Carré pastels are especially effective for artists who prefer structured mark-making, edges, and controlled shading. Their firmer texture allows for sharper lines while still maintaining rich pigment intensity and good lightfastness across the range.

This set contains a traditional selection of 18 earth tones, greys, white, and black, making it ideal for foundational sketching and tonal work.
