Although they are made from the same high-quality raw materials as Rembrandt Soft Pastels, the pigment-to-binder ratio is adjusted to produce a harder stick. This results in reduced softness, improved control, and cleaner, more defined mark-making—especially useful for sketch work and tonal studies.

The Carré format is particularly suited for artists who want precision in line work while still benefiting from rich colour application and traditional earth-based tones.
